The Honest Builders Coalition exists to bring attention to factory built housing and how it’s failing San Francisco. Our Coalition is fighting for high building quality standards, the safety of residents, and investment in to a certified skilled and trained workforce.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH FBH
Factory Built Housing is built by minimally trained factory workers. It is not legally required to comply with local building code standards and green building codes. Private third-party inspectors look at only a fraction of the units, which may not be inspected by local authorities. The result is sub-standard construction that increases the risks of safety hazards, extra costs, and project delays.
1064 MISSION ST
From torn electrical cables and busted framing to ductwork penetrating a fire rated wall, the 1064 Mission St project saw multiple safety and quality issues.
The Treasure Island development for homeless veterans displayed inconsistencies between technical drawings and the delivered product, incorrectly sized pipes, and HVAC issues.
Between hot water lines not in the correct location and vents that could not be tied down, the Mission Bay Block 9 project caused various issues once the products were onsite.
